(Oct. 2010 from Taipei) On this Oct., 2010, there were 2 IT security officers from Department of Foreign Affairs and International Relationship in South African government to Decision Group head office in Taipei for 4-day product training and planning.
The purpose of this visit for both South African IT security officers is to understand the technical scope and functionality of wired and wireless products from Decision Group, and, most important, digital forensic procedure behind.
“What we offer is not only the powerful digital forensic solution,” said Casper, CEO of Decision Group “but we also expect our customer can use it as part of management system and as compliance to legal requirement. That’s why we also provide our menu and report system based on a standard procedure in order to balance between individual privacy protection and business data confidentiality.”
Both South African officers are also impressed about the powerful function of DG SSL Interceptor on encrypted data packets. They expressed that most of criminals like to use email protected by SSL encryption to communicate with each other, so how to break such encrypted line is very critical in evidence collection and crime prevention.
On the other hand, they also noticed that DG solution can support distributed deployment with centralized management in head office. It is very important for small local offices without IT support staff to maintain and operate such system though the help from centralized helpdesk. Besides, All data collected are encrypted protection, and can be synchronized to central storages in time in order to keep data integrity.
In this trip, both also visited Institute for Information Industry, which is the pivot of Taiwan information and communication technology industry. They were also impressed what III has done for the past 30 years in Asia Pacific region on ADOC project.
“III will like to help South African government to promote e-Government initiative with the past 40 year ICT experience in Taiwan.” Diana Chu, General Manager of International Group, III “and we believe South African, just like Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman governments, can benefit a lot by the fast progress in e-Government construction with our skill and experience.”
Shared with lot of knowledge on digital forensics, both South Africa officers flew back to their home country on 22nd Oct. The friendship and willing for future cooperation between them and Decision Group will be deep in both minds.
