New Technology against Crime by Taiwan Police
E-Detective system is highly impressed by Tim Sandes, an Australian director in an interview of one episode of TV documentary series “Anatomy of a Crime”.  In this episode, an emerging technology – network forensic – is first completely open to public on how police trace Internet activities of gangster and combat crime with the help of E-Detective system by Decision Group.

<July 2010>  Casper Chang, CEO of Decision Group, and detectives from Taiwan Police Department were invited for interview of “Anatomy of a Crime”, which is TV documentary series on Asia significant crimes, by Tim Sandes, an Australian director.

In this interview, Casper gave a detail explanation on how engineers of Decision Group helped Taiwan detectives to exploit every bit of information from Internet, develop new features of data analysis in E-Detective system by request from police in order to arrest the most wanted kidnapping criminal. “In the early stage, we were requested by police to add few features to trace IP source of wanted criminal from a Taiwan online game after police had known this criminal was addicted to the online game.” Said Casper, “ Later on, police found out that there were huge amount of data coming in, and it was almost impossible to analyze such hung amount of data.  By full discussion with detectives, we found the way to work out several analytic models. Verifying information from first-line field detectives, police quickly located the position of the criminal and arrested him and his gang.”

“Take example of this case,” Casper said “Decision Group worked with detectives very closely, and understood what they want, how they work, what they should present in the court eventually. So, Decision can help detectives to solve the problems and arrest the most wanted criminal within very short period.”

Now E-Detective system is the most powerful weapon for anti cyber crime and adopted by police departments in 54 countries in the world. With the capability of decoding more than 140 protocols and flexible modularized design, E-Detective is easily implemented and operated by first line field detectives, and is also effective for combating high-tech cyber crimes.  The analytic report system in E-Detective is also formally accepted by many courts as legal evidence because the entire process by E-Detective is fully compliance with ETSI or CALEA standards.
